Home Remedies for Fatty Liver

In this article, we will discuss home remedies for fatty liver. The liver is a very important part of our body and so it is necessary that it should be healthy. Fatty liver is a condition when fat accumulates in the liver cells and liver tissues get replaced with the fatty tissues.

Nowadays, many people are suffering from Fatty liver because of their poor eating habits and excess weight in the abdominal area. This is generally associated with obesity and diabetes. It is necessary to treat it otherwise it can lead to cirrhosis and liver failure if it becomes severe.

There are two types of fatty liver disease i.e. Alcoholic and Nonalcoholic.

Alcoholic-Induced Fatty liver as the name tells that it causes because of excess consumption of alcohol, whereas, in the nonalcoholic fatty liver, fat collects in the liver other than alcohol reasons. Today we will discuss Nonalcoholic fatty liver.

Generally, in the beginning, people with fatty liver does not experience any symptom, rather they experience abdominal pain or discomfort, loss of appetite, etc. After a proper diagnosis, it is necessary to take treatment. Though there is no effective treatment, you can reverse it by changing your eating habits and lifestyle or by following some home remedies.

Home Remedies for Fatty Liver

Here are some of the effective home remedies for fatty liver.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is the pack of several health benefits and it is also used to treat the fatty liver. It helps in getting rid of fat collected inside the liver and also helps in reducing weight. It reduces the inflammation and makes the liver healthy.

Simply, take one tablespoon of ACV and add it to a glass of warm water along with a tablespoon of honey. Mix it well and have it twice a day before meals. Repeat the same drink for few weeks until your liver becomes healthy.

2. Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the best remedies for fatty liver. It is easily available in almost all the kitchens and so it is easy to use. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties that help in curing fatty liver. It improves the body’s digestion and also aids the liver detoxification process.

Take a glass of water and mix ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder in it and boil it. Let it cool down and then drink it twice a day for some weeks. You can also add turmeric powder in warm milk. Add honey if you didn’t like the taste.

3. Change in Diet

A healthy diet is very important for a healthy liver. Foods that are rich in healthy fats needs to be added to your diet. That will improve your liver function and treats fatty liver. Avoid high fructose and add foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids like fish oil, flaxseeds, and walnuts.

Also, avoid fried and spicy foods along with fruits that are high in sugar. In fact add fruits that are rich in fiber like apple, guava, blueberry, etc. Add liver repairing foods like broccoli, cabbage, kale, etc.

4. Lemon

Lemon is rich in citric acid and contains Vitamin C. It has antioxidant properties that help the liver to produce enzymes. These enzymes are called Glutathione that neutralizes the toxins and helps the liver in detoxification.

Daily consumption of lemon water will help you in curing fatty liver disease. Take a glass of water and add the juice of half lemon in it. Drink this water twice or thrice a day. Drink daily for some weeks to get rid of fatty liver.

5. Foods Rich in Vitamin D

Foods that are rich in Vitamin D also cure fatty liver. Add Vitamin D rich foods like mushroom, eggs, fish, cod liver oil, orange juice, tomato, and soy products. Avoid alcohol as consumption of alcohol also causes fatty liver. Also avoid oily foods, fried food, dairy products, etc to keep your liver healthy.

6. Drink Enough Water

Drinking water is good for overall health. It stops acid reflux from occurring and it can also help in stopping the acid at its initial stage. Whenever a person feels any sign of heartburn, drinking plenty of water helps in pushing the stomach acid out of the esophagus and gives much relief.
