It is also recommended by the WHO that a mother must breastfeed her baby at least for six months because of several reasons.

 It has many benefits and many children’s lives are saved every year because of the breast milk. Breast milk nourishes the baby and is full of live ingredients that include stem cells, white blood cells, bioactive components and good bacteria as well.

Though it is absolutely a personal matter of a woman to breastfeed or not, it is advisable to every woman to breastfeed the baby for his good and disease free health. A woman can also continue breastfeeding for a year with other foods which should be started at 6 months of age.

Babies should be breastfed at least for 6 six months or if possible than up to one year to prevent the baby from illness and diseases like gastrointestinal distress, respiratory illness and allergies.

It is known that breastfeeding helps a child to suffer less from childhood and adult obesity. As breast milk contains less insulin and more hormones that the body requires to regulate fat absorption.  Also, according to the studies, babies who are fed on packed milk gain more weight and also they usually overeat throughout their life. So the breast milk is perfect for an infant’s nutritional needs.

Less Chronic Diseases

Breastfeed not only keeps the baby healthy but also linked to a lower incidence of several chronic diseases later in life. Those who breastfed during their infancy, suffer less from health issues like diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and breast cancer. Even women who breastfeed also have less chance of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Breastfeeding not only provides benefits to your baby but also makes a beautiful bonding for the lifelong.  The nursing session increases the level of ‘oxytocin’ the love hormone in the baby as well as the mother’s body and encourages bonding between the two.
